SUMMARY

Edmond has over 30 years of international clinical practice in clinical trials, surgery, primary care, aged care, sports, exercise, occupational, military, musculoskeletal, skin, regenerative, aesthetics, and wellness medicine. 

​

He has a specialist surgical fellowship (UK), a postgraduate general practice fellowship (Australia), and a post graduate certification in aesthetic medicine (USA). Edmond was also trained in sports and military medicine (SAF & RSAF). Edmond is a certified occupational physician for AMSA (Australian Maritime Safety Authority), and soon NTC (National Transport Commission) and OGUK (Oil & Gas UK). 

Edmond is a certified practice manager, biotech, healthtech, infotech, healthcare management & education consultant and a certified assessor to accredit general practices, and soon hospitals and other healthcare facilities.

SPORTS, OCCUPATIONAL, MILITARY, JOINTS & MUSCLE

Edmond knows that sports medicine flows naturally into occupational workplace medicine and vice versa. This he first saw first hand as a Captain (Medical Corps) in the Singapore Armed Forces' Military Medicine Institute (MMI) where he was a Sports Physician, Medical Researcher and Clinical Trainer.

SPORTS, EXERCISE, MILITARY, JOINTS & MUSCLE

Edmond was a Captain (Medical, SAF) in the Singapore Armed Forces' Military Medicine Institute (MMI) where he was a Sports Physician, Medical Researcher and Clinical Trainer. The MMI is a leading multi-speciality military and sports medicine centre in East Asia. For this Edmond was trained fulltime by orthopaedics, hand, trauma and neuro-surgical specialists in hospitals outpatients, emergency and operating theatres. This was followed up by on the job training by sports medicine specialists, orthopaedics and hand surgeons in MMI's multi-speciality outpatients, gyms and allied health services. There Edmond also participated in biomechanics, metabolic and human performance research.

Edmond was also trained and tasked as a Flight Surgeon as a Captain(Medical, RSAF) in Republic of Singapore Air Force helicopter air sea search & rescue in the South China Sea. After leaving the MMI to be a General Surgeon, Edmond continued to serve as a Captain(Medical) in Singapore Armed Forces National Guard until he moved to Australia.

Since the MMI, while in private practice in Singapore, Edmond  continued sports medicine part time and trained medics in the military and St John Ambulance. He also provided the medical response plan for 1993 South East Asia Games. Other supported sports events included IRB Rugby Sevens and the Standard Chartered Marathon in Singapore. Edmond was the expedition doctor for a Special Olympics cum Singapore Management University team scaling the highest peak in south east Asia, Mount Kinabalu in Sabah.

Edmond was an Adjunct Lecturer in sports science & sports medicine for Monash University and Edith Cowan University in Singapore. Edmond was invited to be a lecturer in anatomy for Edith Cowan in Perth by world renown Prof Robert Newton who consults for Nike, Chicago Bulls, England Rugby, Manchester United, English and Australian Institutes of Sport and Surfing Australia. In 2018, Professor Newton received the career achievement award from the Cancer Council WA and in 2019, was named the Western Australia Premier’s Scientist of the Year. Professor Newton has published over 800 scientific papers including 400 refereed scientific journal articles, 450 conference abstracts/papers and 3 books. As of 2020, Professor Newton has attracted over $38 Million in competitive research funding.

In Australia, Edmond has been a Sports GP and was invited to be a team sports doctor for Williamstown VFL, a feeder club to AFL. Edmond was also invited to join sports physician teams for major professional sports franchises in AFL and NRL.

​Edmond trained in musculoskeletal injections (PRP hyaluronic acid, corticosteroids) to help rejuvenate muscle and joint injuries to help restore function and return clients to recreation, work and daily activities. ​All treatments use best in class protocols and technology that are cleared by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) in Australia and by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHRPA).

Edmond is Clinical Advisor and Clinical Trainer to CellGen. Edmond is Medical Advisor & Business Consultant to SEEDD Consulting in helping healthcare innovators develop and deliver end user product training, business support, marketing, clinical curriculum, coaching and certification.

OCCUPATIONAL WORKPLACE

Edmond is Medical Advisor for GP Occupational Health. For more than three decades, Edmond has help providers in ANZ and Asia Pacific deliver quality occupational workplace medical services aimed at preventing and reducing the impact of injury and illness in workplaces and the community. This includes early intervention and injury treatment, work-related medical assessments, medical advisory services and fitness for duty services. Recently this has expanded to COVID Safe Workplace advice.

Edmond has clinical experience in corporate, industrial & travel medicine with major local clients like BHP, Alcoa, Qantas, Ford, Cleanaway & Honeywell. International  corporate clients included Citigroup, UBS, Bank of America, Sumitomo Bank, Siemens, Seagate, Port of Singapore Authority, Keppel Shipyard, Singapore Airlines, Changi Airport, ST Aerospace, Singapore Army, Republic of Singapore Air Force, and Singapore's Military Medicine Institute.

Edmond is Medical Advisor for BUPA & DVA. He provides Disability Medical Assessments for DVA (Department of Veteran Affairs) with BUPA.DVA supports those who serve or have served in the defence of our nation and commemorate their service and sacrifice.  BUPA (British United Provident Association Limited) is an international health insurance and healthcare group with over 38 million customers worldwide. Edmond is an Independent Medical Examiner and provides Disability Medical Assessments on behalf of Services Australia for Disability Support Pensions. He assess impairment ratings to write reports about the impact of medical aliments. These reports help decide who meets medical rules for Disability Support Pensions. 
 

Edmond was a Flight Surgeon as a Captain (Medical, RSAF) in Republic of Singapore Air Force Air Sea Search & Rescue in the South China Sea. Edmond is a certified AMSA Physician for AMSA medical fitness for maritime international certificates of competency. AMSA (Australian Maritime Safety Authority) is the Australian statutory authority responsible for the regulation and safety oversight of Australia's shipping fleet and management of Australia's international maritime obligations. 

Edmond is scheduled to be a certified Rail Medical Physician for NTC. NTC (National Transport Commission) leads national land transport reform in support of all Australian governments to improve safety, productivity, environmental outcomes and regulatory efficiency. Rail Workers Safety Medicals are essential for working in the Rail Corridor. To obtain a Rail Industry Worker card (RIW) you are required to undertake a medical assessment conducted by an Authorised Health Professional. 

Edmond has plans to become a certified OGUK (Oil and Gas UK) Physician for the international Oil and Gas industry. An Oil and Gas UK medical examination is a requirement for workers being deployed offshore within the oil and gas industry in ANZ and beyond. Only medical practitioners that are registered with Oil and Gas UK can perform OGUK Medicals to mobilise workers to offshore environments. All approved practitioners have knowledge of the offshore environment and have undertaken a training program in offshore medical assessment.

​HOBBIES

Edmond enjoys caring for our local multicultural community. In addition to English, he also speaks some Mandarin, Cantonese & Hokkien and plans to learn Spanish, Italian and French. He is all thumbs at gardening, loves tree branch arts and crafts, adores spicy foods and collects antique original condition furniture. Edmond hopes to one day find time to rest​ore a Ducati Scrambler or perhaps an old Indian motorcycle.
